Even if your body is healthy, worries and anxieties can make you feel heavy and lethargic. If your mind is not healthy, you cannot live life to the fullest. One of the attractions of being an occupational therapist is being able to care for patients in a wide range of areas, both physically and mentally. In addition to helping patients recover their physical functions, occupational therapists are also responsible for the rehabilitation of their minds.
There are many people, from children to the elderly, who suffer from mental health issues that interfere with their daily lives, and the causes and symptoms vary. Occupational therapists create programs tailored to the circumstances of each patient, and work closely with them to help them regain the life they desire.

We also have professional outside instructors teach pottery, woodworking, leatherworking, and other crafts, which broadens and expands the scope of our knowledge as occupational therapists.
Horse therapy is a rehabilitation method that improves the mental and physical functions of people with disabilities and speeds up their return to society through contact with horses and horseback riding experiences. This popular class allows you to learn about horse therapy while actually riding at a horseback riding facility in the city.

Head of Occupational Therapy Department
Shohei Kakimoto
Occupational therapists work with a wide range of people, from children to the elderly, who have difficulty performing occupations that are appropriate for them (daily activities that have meaning and value). It is important to support the physical, mental, and environmental aspects of each individual with specialized knowledge and techniques, which requires a wealth of knowledge and the ability to apply that knowledge. Our department has many practical training sessions in its curriculum, and by acquiring practical skills suited to the field, we aim to develop the occupational therapists that the times demand.
I liked the environment where I could concentrate on my studies.
Second year student in the Department of Occupational Therapy. Graduated from Tsuwano High School in Shimane Prefecture.
Momoko Higashikawa
I wanted to become an occupational therapist because I wanted to help the elderly and their families. When I learned that occupational therapy involves mental rehabilitation, that desire grew stronger. I attended an open campus and liked the warm and comfortable atmosphere, as well as the environment where I could concentrate on my studies, so I decided to go to school here.3I am currently working hard to achieve good results in my regular school exams in preparation for the national exams and job hunting in the coming years. In the future, I want to become an occupational therapist who can empathize with patients, understand their feelings, and be relied upon by them.
Acquire the communication skills necessary for the medical profession.
Second year student in the Department of Occupational Therapy, Shimane Prefecture/Masuda High School graduate
Kono Likku
I was looking for a job that would help many people, and I became interested in the job of "occupational therapist". At the open campus, the teachers and student volunteers were kind and helpful, and I wanted to study in an environment like this and improve my communication skills. At this school, even if you are not good at communicating, the teachers and seniors will help you, so I think you will be able to acquire the communication skills necessary for a medical job through school life. Please try participating in the open campus at least once.

Occupational TherapistYurie Shimooka
I was attracted to rehabilitation through daily activities and hobbies, so I aimed to become an occupational therapist. I currently work at a rehabilitation hospital, where I am mainly in charge of rehabilitation for patients with cerebrovascular disorders and orthopedic diseases, with the goal of improving their physical functions and daily activities. I also provide cooking practice and bicycle driving support, assuming life after discharge. I feel rewarded when patients leave the hospital with a smile on their face, or when they realize that they can do things they couldn't do before. At Shimane Rehabilitation College, the teachers and students are friendly, and the environment is easy to consult about anything, and they provide friendly support, so I think you can live your student life with peace of mind. Occupational therapists can provide support that is more in line with your lifestyle while bringing out the individuality of the patient. The approach is wide, and it can be difficult, but I think it is a rewarding and attractive job.
